Dentro

Dentro, by Abbie MacLaughlan and Maria Teixeira Barros (Portugal), is a short film based on a love poem by the latter. A love poem that explores powerful emotions and their connection to nature. With this premise as a basis, what does the viewer get? Nothing more and nothing less than what could be an interesting advertising moment for any soap from a more or less recognised brand, based on the various moments in which the protagonist wanders through settings that are sometimes interesting, sometimes exploratory of the emotion it intends to convey, but which, in reality, do little to advance any fictional dynamic where there is an actual story and character development that might interest, or at least arouse, the viewer's curiosity. Water, trees, natural settings... and little else. A drift of excessive ego while there is some moment of eco-sexuality that not only becomes unnecessary but is, at times, downright uncomfortable and inappropriate.
